CONSCIOUS CONSUMPTION GROUP

The project appeared in 2019, to minimize the loss of production and increase the farmer's income. Food waste focuses on two main problems: (1) substandard products do not reach the market; (2) The farmer does not have time to articulate sales. The issue was raised together with farmer Tomi, through a previous study that provided the basis for building the Rebola Queixo Project together.  

The Project is called "Rebola Chin", because it is a term often used by the farmer,  which translates the idea of eating (the act of chewing gives the idea of “rolling your chin”).  

To solve these problems, we created a basket model that supports the farmer, avoids waste and increases the food diversity of the families that support the project.  

We form a group with people willing to try different products, without choosing what comes in their baskets. Good quality products that are out of the market standard or products that cannot be sold via the Organic Farmers Cooperative are part of the items in the basket. In exchange, the group accesses food at a better price and can get to know who produces what is on their family's table.  

Deliveries are made to customers' homes on the way to a fixed point located in Santo Amaro (those who live after the fixed point pick up their basket). The idea is to reduce the group's logistics cost and carbon footprint. Payment is made monthly, which ensures a fixed monthly income for the farmer's family.

Formamos um grupo com pessoas dispostas a experimentar produtos diferentes, sem escolher o que vem em suas cestas. Produtos de ótima qualidade mas que estão fora do padrão do mercado ou produtos que não conseguem ser vendidos via Cooperativa de agricultores orgânicos fazem parte dos itens da cesta. Em troca, o grupo acessa alimentos com melhor preço e podem conhecer quem produz o que vai na mesa de sua família.

Results:

  • 10 tons of food that had no market standard or that there was no buyer in the formal market;

  • The baskets impacted 30,843.75 reais in the cashier on the site over a 19-month period, providing only 2 hours per week for assembly, 4 hours for delivery;

  • Participating families had access to more than 70 different items, including fruits and vegetables;

  • +30 Families consumed conscientiously, respecting nature and those who produce their food.
